Although my primary occupation is being a university-based researcher and lecturer, I can be tempted into other activities. I have been teaching in various executive programmes; at this point I am for instance involved in the EMBA programme of the university of Zürich. Over the years I have also talked to over fifty companies, on various topics related to culture and organizational behaviour. I like to use experiential activities, so that the brain and the motivational system are both activated. It is about as hard to learn about culture while sitting in a lecture room, as to learn to swim in that position. Languages: UK - Nl - Fr - De - DkI usually speak English for lectures. Although I can chat away a bit in some more Indo-European languages, there are hundreds of languages that I do not speak at all... I try to compensate for this by using rich non-verbal communication, or asking help from artists. Music, for instance, has very strong cultural connotations. It speaks to the heart. And to understand culture, the heart and the brain need one another.
